List of LDS Artists

Comprehensive but not definitive. To reiterate, these are artists who (A) paint LDS themed art, or (B) paint Biblical art popular with LDS audiences. They are not necessarily Mormon artists. Because I also evaluate paintings reproduced in Church Magazines, I include on this list a few Old Masters. Alphabetized by first name.

  1. Don't know if you're still blogging, but I have someone to add to your list. Check out Annie Henrie (anniehenrie.weebly.com)--she's a young LDS artist currently attending BYU with a great talent for art, wonderful subject matter, and a fun design flair.

    Hope you're well!

  2. I am thankful for your analysis of Walter Rane's work -- it seems to be right on the mark, I agree with much you said. The church tends to favor the cookie-cutter approach, not sure why -- possibly for the sake of the children. In any case, Rane's ''He is not here'' is exceptional. I did indeed look into buying a giclee and will do. Elegant, understated, it's a remarkable piece. Also -- I may suggest you add another artist to the list -- Roland Lee has ben painting for 40 years and lives in St. George, Utah -- and has collectors throughout the world. --

  3. Add Kathleen Peterson to your list. She's been a favorite the past year or two in Ensign art.
